Kevin began producing and hosting the Kevin Smith Show in 2000 while serving in Kosovo. He produce the show from his tiny apartment in downtown Pristina, Kosovo (photo at left) at first, then moved to the Serb enclave of Gracanica, just south of Pristina.
In the early days, the show was pre-recorded on a laptop computer, and then uploaded to the internet. These were the very early days of streaming audio on the internet, and the technology was not yet suitable for live broadcasting. The software was too clunky, and most people were still using dial-up connections. This caused far too much "buffering" and pre-recorded shows were preferable. These days, we call them podcasts.
The show has originated from most of the exotic locations where Kevin has lived and worked. These days, the show originates from the Phoenix, Arizona (USA) area.
